PRINCIPLE BELIEFS IN CHRISTIANITY
- The divinity and humanity of Jesus Christ: Jesus is fully human and fully divine.
- The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ: Death is an integral part of the human condition and one which is shared by Jesus. Shows Christian believers that there is life after death.
- The nature of God and the Trinity: God is One existing as three persons, God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit as sanctifier
- God the Son is revealed in the Christian Scriptures
- God the Spirit is revealed in the Church
- Revelation: God is intimately involved with all aspects of human life and thus God is revealed to humankind in and through the experiences of human history. God is the only source of revelation. The revelation is also communicated through the Bible, which Christians believe is inspired by God.
- Salvation: The belief that Jesus’ death was a ritual sacrifice. Salvation within Christianity can mean three things:
- Present aspect - living as a saved person
- Future aspect – looking forward to a life in heaven
